Pennine Puts On Its Running Shoes For The GNAAS

Fundraising efforts for our nominated corporate charity The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) continue.

Several members of the team have begun pounding the streets after commencing training for this year’s Great North Run.

Originally devised by Olympic Bronze medallist Brendan Foster, the event takes place on Sunday September 11th.

2016 marks the 35th anniversary of what is the world’s largest half marathon, so the celebratory atmosphere will hopefully spur on our runners to the finish line.

They will be tackling the 13.1 mile long course stretching between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields along with more than 50,000 other participants.

This is the latest in a series of fundraising activities that we have held in aid of the charity over the past couple of years.

For those unaware, the GNAAS flies three air ambulance helicopters across the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria and rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year.

They do tremendous work in the local area and solely rely on public donations to keep the helicopters in the sky.

We will keep you up-to-date with how training is progressing for our team of athletes and let you know how you can donate to the cause in a few weeks’ time.
