But it’s not just in our trade where the UK is lagging behind in giving females senior management opportunities as the UK is the second worst performing EU country in terms of female representation in senior roles across the board (source: Grant Thornton 2017).
Pennine is trying to turn the tide though as we are believers in diversity and equality and have a far higher proportion of female managers in senior roles than most companies in our industry and many others.

A recent report by management consultants McKinsey discovered that gender diverse companies were 20 per cent more likely to have above average financial performance than non-diverse companies.
This finding has been reaffirmed by Pennine’s most recent financial performances as in May we achieved revenues of £6m, up 17% against the same period last year, and in August, sales at Pennine exceeded £1.3m, a 45 per cent increase on the equivalent month last year.
We feel very strongly about ensuring that women aren’t overlooked for senior positions and face no barriers when trying to make their way up the career ladder. Having so many females within our management team is undoubtedly aiding our business and we are extremely proud to be spearheading the push for more companies to commit to greater female representation in senior management.
