You might be wondering what this challenge is, but we promise it’s worth your while.
The British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA), have found that 56% of UK residents don’t love their home and have devised this challenge to encourage homeowners to #MakeOneChange this September.
There are prizes up for grabs for those who submit the most impressive Before and After transformation. Full details of how you can put yourself in the running for a prize can be found on the National Home Improvement Month website.
Are you feeling ready to take on the challenge?
If you’re feeling inspired it’s time to pick what project you’re going to work on. We recommend picking a space where you’ll really feel the benefit of your hard work.
To give you a helping hand here are three things you can do around the house to make a difference to your home this September.
Update your kitchen
With us all spending more time at home, the kitchen has evolved to be where families get together each and every night to cook, consume food and catch-up. If you’ve been spending time in your kitchen and wanting to make improvements you aren’t alone.
If you don’t want to go for a complete kitchen renovation, why not opt to change a few details within the room. For example, you could refresh your kitchen cabinets to update the look of the space.
Sand them down and apply a fresh coat of paint if they’re wooden and structurally sound, or as an alternative you could reface them. You’ll feel like you’ve got a brand new kitchen for very little effort. For a finishing touch why not update your cabinet hardware (handles, pulls, knobs) to tie everything together.
Try removable wallpaper
A great shortcut to changing the appearance of a room is to experiment with what’s on the walls. With removable wallpaper (yes, this exists!) this is easier than ever.
Simply choose your design, peel the paper and attach it to your walls. Don’t like how it looks? You can simply peel it off with hardly any mess and little to no damage to your walls. This is a vast improvement on the mess and time that goes into traditional wallpaper.
It’s the perfect way to experiment with different trends without the commitment. We encourage you to try removable wallpaper and see the impact it has on your home.
Give your front entrance some TLC
Coming home should be an inviting experience, but arriving at your front door can be overwhelming if you aren’t happy with your entrance way.
If your front door isn’t looking it’s best we recommend upgrading to bring a new lease of life to your home and to get some serious kerb appeal.
For a total transformation don’t stop there! Try adding a wreath to your door all year round to mark the seasons and bring some greenery to your doorway. Add some plants if you’ve got space or some hanging baskets to complete the look and fall in love with your home all over again.
If the one change you want to make to your home is too big for you to take on yourself and it involves a new door, or some other home improvement, Pennine Home Improvements can take on the challenge for you. Just contact us for assistance.
