Inspiration – Flush Casement Windows
We’re regularly adding exciting new home improvement solutions to our product line at Pennine and one of our most recent additions was Envisage – a modern update of a traditional flush casement window.
It has gone down a storm with admirers of original flush casement windows as it looks just like a traditional flush casement and manages to deliver contemporary window performance.
So much work and dedication went into creating Envisage as it was paramount that it possessed the same lines and proportions that flush casements are renowned for having. The attention to detail is second to none.
At a time when Heritage-inspired products are much in vogue, Envisage is at the very forefront of things.
If you’ve taken a liking to Envisage, here’s a summary of our fresh and exciting take on the forever fashionable flush casement.
Original coloured finishes and furniture
We felt it imperative to recreate the kind of coloured finishes and hardware that would traditionally be used and found on flush casements; otherwise they just wouldn’t be the same.
Envisage’s colour palette includes options such as Signal Smooth Grey, Irish Oak and Rosewood. We’ve also developed one exclusive colour – Olive Grey.
When it comes to hardware, the various window fixtures and fittings have been styled on the kinds of handles, hinges, stays etc. that you’d see on an original flush casement. You can also accessorise the design with astragal bars to give it a patterned look.
One of the biggest downsides of using timber to construct flush casement designs, apart from how rapidly timber ages when exposed to the elements, is how poor of an insulator it is. As the wood cracks and splits, it enables heat to escape easily and cold air to come in, causing householders to crank up their thermostat.
We don’t use timber to manufacture the frame (though you will think it’s timber when you see it) and instead use UPVC as has excellent insulation properties.
Envisage’s Window Energy Rating is A+ and it has a U-Value of just 1.2.
Weathering can also cause timber flush casements to lose their strength and the locking systems affixed to them were often very basic, making them easily breakable.
The resilience of the window frame is complemented with our ‘Secure It’ locking system. The finished lock was durability tested over 30,000 times as standard and has been granted ‘Secured by Design’ standard – a Police backed scheme.
For Envisage, sash windows in Northumberland or any other window item, Pennine is the place to go to. We have showrooms throughout the North East.
