How To Give Your Home A Chilling Look For Halloween

Spooktacular decorations for your windows and doors
Try not to be spooked out, but Halloween is just around the corner – where does the time go?

With each passing year, it seems to become a bigger and bigger event in this country, like it is across the pond, with lots of householders getting into the spirit of things and making their homes look truly spook-tacular.

We have some un-boo-lievably good decorating ideas that won’t frighten your bank balance, if you too would like to create a haunting Halloween home.

Place an autumnal wreath on your front door

You used to only ever see wreaths on doors at Christmas, but now you see them all-year round, including during the autumn season.

It’s not as difficult as it sounds to craft your own autumn wreath. Just pick up some fallen leaves, get some wire, and find a YouTube video telling you how to do it.

Short on time? Etsy has loads of pre-made autumn wreaths you can buy at an affordable price.

Give your entrance an eerie appearance

To startle house guests and trick or treaters when they come to visit, make your entrance scarily eerie.

Pumpkins are a must, and you could have a couple of them sitting on the floor outside your front door. Go pumpkin picking with the kids at a nearby pumpkin patch – much more fun than just buying them from the supermarket.

Find a creepy stencil design online that you can print off and use to carve the pumpkins, and once the carving is complete, drop in some battery-powered tea lights.

As one final scary touch, buy a doormat with a terrifying Halloweeny message, such as ‘Turn Back Now’.

Put lights in your windows

Use your windows to give people the willies, achievable just by installing some red and orange-coloured string lights around the inside of their frames.

You can also take advantage of your window sills, placing mason jars stuffed with fairy lights on any that you have, creating a lovely, cosy indoor atmosphere while you watch all of those classic Halloween movies, like Bettlejuice and Hocus Pocus.

When decorating them, you may decide that you could do with brand-new windows and doors for the autumn and winter. Pennine can assist with this. Just request a FREE quote first.
