How do you avoid them? By uncovering whether the home improvement ‘specialists’ you come across have any accreditations, such as FENSA and / or GGF membership. If they don’t have a single accreditation to their name, it’s unlikely you will be protected in the event of them doing a botch job or scamming you out of your money.
There’s no danger of either of those unpleasant scenarios coming to fruition when you give Pennine responsibility for installing your new windows and doors.
We are FENSA and GGF approved, both of which are notable endorsements.
Setup in 2002 by the Glass and Glazing Federation, and authorised by the Government, FENSA (Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme) is a Competent Person Scheme.
When you have work conducted by a FENSA installer, it will meet all building regulations requirements and they will certify the installation directly with your local authority, saving you the job of doing it.
After the project has been certified, the installer will present you with a FENSA certificate for safekeeping.
You will need this in the future if you ever try to sell your home as it must be handed over to whoever buys the house. It proves to them that any windows and doors you’ve had fitted satisfy expected installation standards.
Founded in January 1977, the Glass and Glazing Federation is a trade association that works to raise industry standards.
Consumer protection is their foremost priority. All GGF members are vetted and must demonstrate supreme skill in everything they do to put themselves in consideration for member status.
Once GGF membership has been attained, a company must abide by the GGF’s Code of Good Practice, with the threat of their membership being rescinded if they fall short of the required levels.
The GGF also offers a FREE conciliation service to resolve any disputes that arise between a customer and member company.
You’re on completely safe ground when you put your home in the hands of Pennine, as verified by our FENSA and GGF accreditations. We’re the best place to come to for quality workmanship.
